We first had the idea for G&W Discover in April 2024, and that was also when I decided to act on it.

At the time, I wasn’t trying to build an organization. I simply wanted to share something I had personally experienced—that when a student is trusted and given real responsibility, learning feels different, and growth comes naturally.

In school, I had opportunities to take advanced courses and participate in academic competitions. More importantly, I learned under teachers who believed in students and were willing to let us take on challenges. Those experiences taught me that learning is not just about solving problems or earning grades. Sometimes, the most powerful thing a student can hear is, 

“I trust you.”

I started small—helping classmates and younger students with math, studying together, and explaining ideas in ways that felt approachable. Over time, those sessions grew into community-based tutoring. Our programs gradually expanded beyond one subject, covering mathematics, biology, and later including music-based courses to help students manage stress and explore interests beyond academics.

G&W Discover grew step by step, shaped by real teaching experiences rather than a fixed plan. We listened, adjusted, and kept improving.

As we continued, our work began to earn recognition. Teachers noticed not only the academic results, but also the responsibility and care we brought into teaching. Eventually, we were trusted to help train the school’s Olympic Mathematics competition team. That moment meant a lot to me—it marked a shift from simply helping others to being relied on.

From a personal idea to a growing team trusted by teachers, G&W Discover has developed in a steady and meaningful way. What has stayed the same is our belief that learning should be supportive rather than stressful, and that trust can give students both confidence and direction.

Our goal has never been to grow quickly or look impressive. We care more about doing each session thoughtfully and treating every student with respect. Through trust and shared responsibility, we hope students not only grow academically, but also learn how to support others in return.
